The confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended all three continental club games due to be played in Cameroon this weekend due to civil unrest, which is presently rocking the country. The games include; two African Champion Leagues, and one Confederation Cup.

As per the fixtures, Coton Sport of Garoua, were to play host to Vital'O of Burundi, and Union Sportive of Douala, against Asko Kara of Togo, in the African Champion league, while Mount Cameroon football club of Buea, were to play host to JS Talagai of Congo in the Confederation Cup.

It should be noted here that Cameroon has been experiencing a series of violent demonstration by the population of some main towns of since 24 February with taxi drivers calling for a drop in fuel prices. The situation later went off hands when members of the
public joined in with a litany of grievances, as they went on rampage mounting roadblocks, and burning both private and public properties thereby bringing the situation out of control. Consequently, several people lost their lives when the forces of law and order came in to maintain peace.

Though the situation is somehow under control, Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has decided to err on the side of caution by requesting for the postponement of the matches by Caf.

"The situation is so bad that it's even impossible for our own clubs (Mount Cameroon and Union) to travel to Yaounde for the games," a Fecafoot official told the BBC.

"Caf's decision came just in time for us to inform the other parties, who were already on their way to the airport, to stop their journey to Cameroon this weekend." But so far, there is no clear date for when the matches will be played in the future.
